The perception is, the only reason she has the contract is because of her connections to MJ and Elvis. Even on the newsgroups they're making fun of her getting signed. Did you guys know that EMI not only owned Java with Ballard, but also owns VIRGIN records? You know, the label that Janet Jackson is on? Co-incidence? Lets see, Glen Ballard is an old songwriter for Michael Jackson, and if my memory serves correctly(and if I'm wrong, please correct me.)he told Kurt Loder of MTV that he still considers MJ a colleague and a friend. Janet Jackson is Lisa Marie's best friend and former sister-in-law. Janet happens to be one of EMI's leading recording artists and major stockholder(they gave janet lots of EMI stock when she sighned that big contract with them a coupla years ago.) Hmmmmmmmmmmm. I can understand the cynics. THERE ARE TO MANY JACKSON CONNECTIONS WITH THIS DEAL! No way could she have gotten it on her own! I don't think a record company would be maronic enough to sign someone up because of their "connections", no matter who they are, if the artist isn't talented. - PS I still think she got it on her own.
